Cardiff Bay, formally known as Tiger Bay was key to the Industrial Revolution of the 1790s. Numerous docks were built during the 1830s to assist with the ever growing demand of the iron and coal trade. Cardiff dockland district is Wales’ oldest multi-ethnic community. The once affluent area suffered as a result of the demise of coal exchange following the Second World War but has now regenerated itself in assisting the capital city in becoming one of the top 10 cities in Europe.

Wales Millennium Centre which opened in 2004 has already a reputation as one of the world’s iconic arts and cultural destinations. BBC Wales studios is also located in the Bay filming Doctor Who, Casualty and other iconic television shows. For those interested in politics, The Welsh Assembly is based at the waterfront.along with an array of comedy clubs, live music venues and museums.
The ever growing capital city centre is a walk away from the development offering a mix of department and boutique stores. Recently being named the 6th best shopping destination in the UK, Cardiff offers something for all tastes from high street brands to designer. A 2 minute train link is available from Queen Street to the Bay to assist with heavy shopping bags.
The Mermaid Quay area of the Bay offers all that you could desire with a fantastic choice of restaurants, clubs, theatres and shopping, all a gentle stroll along the bay from your front door. Should you fancy exploring, a water taxi is available from the Bay to nearby Penarth which offers even more highly recommended restaurants.
Should you wish to travel further afield you are ideally situated with easy rail and road links taking you to Swansea and the outstanding Gower Peninsula to the west with Bristol, London and Birmingham all within easy reach via the M4/M5 to the east. Cardiff Bay is also only 30 minutes from Cardiff International Airport with regular flights to all major destinations.
